Black Marmot plays the DWI

- Black Marmot blends acoustic folk and rock with the occasional touch of blues and country at the Daniel Webster Inn on Saturday.
Known for its food, luxurious spa and well-appointed guest rooms, the Dan’l Webster Inn and Spa in Sandwich might not be first on your list for great music venues.
But with the Inn’s new Music Room Series this summer, the famous restaurant and hotel is proving it's not just for your parents anymore.
Set against a dusky backdrop while diners sit around candlelit, linen-clad tables, New England-based musicians transform the place from an upscale restaurant to an intimate, coffeehouse setting where everyone is among friends.
The local music series continues this Saturday, September 10 with Boston's Black Marmot.
Blending acoustic folk and rock with the occasional touch of blues and country, Black Marmot's songs are an appealing mixture of melodic stylings, while upbeat and light-hearted compilations contrast starkly with dark lyrics.
Centerville native and Naukabout founder Jeff Conley will open up for the band. He is known for his mellow, upbeat folk tunes served on homemade, antique, electric instruments.
Series promoter Adam Hoffman said that while the venue may seem unusual at first, the Music Room has great acoustics, good food and table service, and room for listeners to spread out and relax.
Hoffman first came up with the idea after jamming with friends last winter in the restaurant’s quiet atmosphere.
“I wanted it to be organic and natural,” Hoffman said. “The vibe makes it what it is. Music is about energy after all, and that’s what we’re going for.”
So if you’re up for a night of relaxing music in a surprisingly chill environment, check out the Daniel Webster Inn’s Music Room Series. It might just be one of Cape Cod’s hidden gems.
Shows start at 8 PM. $5 cover at the door, but if you make dinner reservations, the cover is waived and your seat is guaranteed. The tavern menu offers reasonably-priced pizza, burgers, and salads.
