The Arts Foundation of Cape Cod presented a Spring Talent Search for new bands to add to the lineup of the 2012 Citizens Bank Summer Concert Series on Monday at Cotuit Center for the Arts with rock group Brian Sances and The Big 3 coming out on top. The runner-up, jazz trio Robertchez, won an appearance in the series as well.
Brian Sances and The Big 3 featuring Chris Carroll on drums, Pete Childs on bass and Dennis Christiano on guitar won over the audience playing an upbeat selection of both Sances' original songs and contemporary cover tunes.
The Talent Search night showcased seven different bands covering a wide variety of musical genres. This competition gave an opportunity for established and emerging bands who have never played the Citizens Bank Summer Concert Series to play for a live audience and a celebrity panel of judges to compete for open slots in the lineup.
The panel of judges for the event was made up of some of the Cape's foremost music personalities and arts leaders including Suzanne Tonaire of Dunes 102, David Kuehn, the executive director of Cotuit Center for the Arts, Monica Rizzio of the group Tripping Lily, Eileen Fendler lead vocalist of Felonious Funk and local musician John Kilroy.
The Arts Foundation of Cape Cod, the region's designated arts agency, ensures the vibrancy of our cultural community by supporting, promoting, celebrating and strengthening the arts throughout the year. For more information about the Citizens Bank Summer Concert Series, visit www.artsfoundation.org.
