Dan'l Webster Inn changes its vibe with music series

Known for its high-quality food, luxurious spa amenities and well-appointed guest rooms, the Dan’l Webster Inn and Spa in Sandwich might not be first on your list for great music venues.
But with a lineup of musicians ranging from the Cape’s Tripping Lily to Boston’s Will Dailey, the Inn’s Music Room Series is proving that the famous restaurant and hotel isn’t just for your parents anymore.
Set in the restaurant’s Music Room, musicians framed by arched windows perform acoustic sets to fans and diners seated around linen-clad tables illuminated by candles.
With the lights dimmed and the pink light of dusk streaming in, the room transforms from an upscale restaurant to an intimate, coffeehouse setting where everyone is among friends.
As the musicians play original tunes and regale the audience with stories, listeners can enjoy award-winning dishes or sit back with a draught of Cape Cod Beer. Folks wanting to eat lighter fare and enjoy conversation can still hear strains of music across the hall in the Tavern.
Series promoter Adam Hoffman said that while the venue may seem unusual at first, the Music Room has great acoustics, good food and table service, and room for listeners to spread out and relax.
Hoffman first came up with the idea after jamming with friends last winter in the restaurant’s quiet atmosphere.
“I wanted it to be organic and natural,” Hoffman said. “The vibe makes it what it is. Music is about energy after all, and that’s what we’re going for.”
So if you’re up for a night of relaxing music in a surprisingly chill environment, check out the Daniel Webster Inn’s Music Room Series. With three more dates this summer, the Series might just be one of Cape Cod’s hidden gems.
Shows start at 8 PM. $5 cover at the door, but if you make dinner reservations, the cover is waived and your seat is guaranteed.
