BEN ALLSUP/BENSHOTME.COM - Spiritual Rez rocks the House of Blues in the band's hometown of Boston.

Boston-based Spiritual Rez brings its reggae-infused funk sound to Stone L’oven Pizza on Main Street, Falmouth on Saturday night to kick off the summer season on a high note.

Spiritual Rez combines positive-themed songs penned by Willingham with the band’s Afro-beat inspired sound and ska-punk roots. The winners of the 2007 Boston Music Award for Best World Music Act describe their sound as “steroids being shot out of a cannon at George Clinton’s birthday party.”

Fresh off an East Coast tour, Spiritual Rez has opened up for the likes of Steel Pulse, Toots and the Maytals, and George Clinton and the Parliament Funkadelic.

Lead singer/guitarist Toft Willingham is known for his quick-tongued delivery and mid-air splits. Jesse Shaternick’s infectious bass grooves blend seamlessly with drummer Ian “Meat” Miller’s tight changes and solos from the horn section, headed up by Kory Stanbury on sax and Bryan House on trombone.

Falmouth's own DJ Hi-Yella will entertain fans between sets with his original hip hop beats and rhymes.

The free show will kick off at 10 PM, but fans are encouraged to come early to ensure entry. Attendees must be 21 years of age or older with a valid, picture ID.
